Borak’s Stranger on the Shore……….Secondly the characters, and particularly those of the debonair-though-grieving Chris, the seductive Marisa and the irascible Detective Frank Ramos, are well rounded and drawn as though they are friends of the author, so detailed are their mannerisms and speech patterns. A further plus is the sense of intrigue the author manages to convey. This is not a novella for the faint-hearted, but with that said neither does it have a break-neck pace. This allows the plot to bubble, blister-like, before bursting into life; a skill that is further highlighted by snappy dialogue and a keen sense of timing.
